A New Arrangement of “My Anchor Holds”

This is a pretty rough recording of an old hymn I arranged. I was going through a hard time and the words to this song helped me, but the old tune didn’t seem to fit. Hopefully, this hymn can encourage you too 🙂
Though the angry surges roll
On my tempest-driven soul,
I am peaceful, for I know,
Wildly though the winds may blow,
I’ve an anchor safe and sure,
That can evermore endure.
Refrain:
And it holds, my anchor holds:
Blow your wildest, then, O gale,
By His grace I shall not fail,
For my anchor holds, my anchor holds.
Mighty tides about me sweep,
Perils lurk within the deep,
Angry clouds o’ershade the sky,
And the tempest rises high;
Still I stand the tempest’s shock,
For my anchor grips the rock.
Troubles almost ‘whelm the soul;
Griefs like billows o’er me roll;
Tempters seek to lure astray;
Storms obscure the light of day:
But in Christ I can be bold,
I’ve an anchor that shall hold.
Lovely! I find there are a lot of old hymns like that, where the music just doesn’t quite fit the words. Beautifully done.
Hi, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one and i was
just curious if you get a lot of spam responses? If so how
do you reduce it, any plugin or anything you can recommend?
I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so any assistance is very much appreciated.
I don’t get too much spam as it seems like WordPress has pretty good spam filters.
This is incredibly beautiful! Thank you for creating a new arrangement for the very meaningful words! Going through a difficult time right now, and this speaks precious encouragement to me!
Are you willing to share your piano and guitar music, as I would love to be able to sing this at our church and share the encouragement with them (and with my husband)?
PS I wish we lived nearby – I would love to take piano lessons from you!
Hi Roxy, I would love to share it. I’ll e-mail it to you. Blessings!
